Come to HackPittsburgh on Friday, July 22, 2011 to learn how you can make environmentally friendly and non-toxic household cleaners, pest repellents, and lawn and garden products with simple ingredients, most likely with stuff you’ve got around your house.

HackPittsburgh member Susan Speicher will begin the hands-on workshop at 7 PM.  Like all Friday night events, this workshop is free and open to the public.  We’re located at 1936 5th Avenue, in the garage around back on Watson.

This Friday night we will be hosting Crafts of Some Kind. Come on over and get out of the crappy weather to enjoy some knitting, crocheting, paper mache, or what ever kind of craft makes you happy. This is a come show off your favorite craft event but we will also have people who might be able to help you learn something new.  Don’t forget to come check out our giant sweater loom that we just completed our first rug on while you are here!

Just like all Friday night this event is Free and open to the public. The doors will open at 7pm at 1936 5th Ave (the garage around back), Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Come join us this Friday (11-19-2010) as our member Jeff Kramer takes us on a fast paced and fun journey through the history of robotics. Jeff will be focusing this presentation on the advancements in intelligent robots.

We will open the shop at 7pm and the presentation will start shortly there after. This is a free event and open to the public. We will be hanging out after to discuss robots or anything else that comes to mind, so if you have a robotics project of your own that you would like to show off bring it down.

We will be giving a very brief introduction to both NetCat and Nmap.
We also plan to discuss and demo some of the more esoteric features of
nmap and spend some time looking into the more unique and useful
features and uses of NetCat.

This is a free Friday night event and is open to the public so bring your friends and come learn how a few simple tools can help you make your network more secure. After all if NMap is good enough to break into the Matrix don’t you want it in your list of tools. Doors will open at 7 and the event will start shortly after. Like all Friday nights you don’t need to be a member to come hang out, all are welcome.

How to turn an idea into a salable product.
This Friday night (7-9-10) come hear HackPittsburgh member Matthew Beckler talk about how his company, Wayne and Layne, LLC, took an idea and developed it into a product, using their first electronics kit, the Tactile Metronome, as an example. Topics to be discussed include market research, prototyping, part sourcing, marketing, and order fulfillment.

This event is free and open to the public.  Stop in for the presentation, and then hang out for the evening to join in the rest of the fun!
